Welcome at the volunteers section of the website of the International Film Festival Rotterdam, one of the Netherland’s biggest festivals. Over these twelve days hundreds of movies are shown on more than twenty screens in Rotterdam. To make this great event possible the IFFR works with over 750 volunteers in many different jobs. If you are interested in joining our crew, read the text below and subscribe using the link at the bottom of this page.
The volunteer applications went at a furious pace this year. So many people already applied that all the volunteer-jobs are filled. It is still possible to sign up as a volunteer for this year’s festival, but if you do so you will be on our backup list. It is wise to check beforehand which jobs you prefer, because this will be decisive in selecting who we will
need for the festival. You can

When a volunteer does not want to do his assigned job anymore, the people who are registered on the waiting list will be the first who will be called to replace the former volunteer.

What do we expect from you?
As it is an international film festival there are plenty of jobs available for non-Dutch speakers. There are more than 10 different volunteer jobs for international volunteers. As a volunteer we expect you to be available during the entire festival period and work ten shifts. Availability in the days before the festival can be an advantage. Furthermore we expect from volunteers that they are representative and able to speak English well.
What can you expect as a volunteer?
The International Film Festival Rotterdam is a busy period in which you work intensively with really nice and friendly colleagues in an informal working environment. In return for your efforts you’ll get, depending on the amount of shifts you work, either a Crew pass, with which you can get free tickets for unlimited film screenings, or a Work pas with which you’ll receive one free ticket per worked shift. Besides your crew- or work pass you’ll get food and drinks during your shifts, discount on consumption vouchers, the beautiful
official festival t-shirt, our extensive movie catalogue, a welcome gift and of course invitations for several special volunteer film screenings and parties. As a volunteer you’ll get a unique experience behind the scenes of one of the biggest cultural event in the Netherlands.
Unfortunately we are not able to provide you with sleeping space or refund traveling costs. As a volunteer you are covered by our festival insurance.
