Gravity Was Everywhere Back Then   BF-2011

Mary is ill and Leonard loves her so much that he decides to build a house for her. Brent Green reconstructed this house in his garden and used it as a film set for a special and moving story. A beautiful mix of animation, stop motion and live action.

Programmer Note by Inge de Leeuw:

In his first feature-length film, Brent Green definitely did not take the easy option. Of course, as a self-taught animator, the choice of stop-motion animation techniques was a relatively obvious one. However, what makes the film so special is that its set was built by Green, life-size in his back garden. This set was exhibited at museum screenings in America.
I can imagine that this is a marvellous addition to the film experience. Incidentally, it does not mean that the film does not hold up on its own, on the contrary. It's been a long time since I was so moved and charmed by a film. It is a loving ode to romance, to science and to film!
