Sombre, nervous and easily hurt: Jay is unemployed and his beautiful wife gets on his nerves. Time to do another job? The skilfully improvised social-realist drama then flips into disturbingly realistic horror. This year’s strangest scary film.
Ben Wheatly is the new wonder boy of British cinema. He made his debut in 2009 with Down Terrace, a violent gangster comedy he financed himself. The sequel, the horror film Kill List, has the same qualities as his debut: a quasi-documentary style, naturalistic acting, partly improvised dialogues and a large dose of black humour. Wheatly based the last half of Kill List on the nightmares he had as a child.
The sensitive and unemployed Jay, a troubled veteran who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, takes on a new job with his Irish mate Gal. But who is really the mysterious client of the two hitmen? With a 'kill list' in their hands, they travel through England. During the day they do their work stoically, at night they stay in cheerless hotels.
Halfway through Kill List, the social realism changes into worrying supernatural horror. The strangest film of the year also has an ending which gives you plenty to talk about.

Geen ondertitels erg jammer want zelfs bij download zitten ondertitels.
Heb een kaartje voor deze film die ik al heb gezien met ondertitels, maar wilde hem nog een keer kijken, maar zonder ondertiteling weet ik niet of dat zin heeft.

I walked out half way, after killing nr 1. I could detect no comprehensible story line, no plot, no meaning underneath. Moreover, the language is hard to follow, regardless of me being reasonably fluent in the English language. Is it the Irish dialect that appears to be in my blind spot?? I don't think this is acceptable for international viewing.

Film had interessant kunnen zijn indien het gebrabbel van de acteurs te verstaan zou zijn geweest. Dat was niet het geval dus het verhaal ontging mij compleet. Mensen om mij heen klaagden hier ook over. Het is mij dan ook een volslagen raadsel waarom niet gewoon alle film zijn ondertiteld. Ook de Nederlandse films wel te verstaan. Zo goedkoop is een kaartje nu ook weer niet.

KILL LIST is een film waarin je even moet doorbijten. De Engelse dialogen zijn af en toe slecht verstaanbaar, maar ze maken de film wel lekker Brits!
Tot de helft is de film niet echt spannend of ontroerend. De tweede helft is veel heftiger en let op onverwachtse wending! De plot wordt meteen omgegooid en wordt dan vreemd. Spannend en heftig.
KILL LIST is ok, maar niet meer dan dat.
