Just like old nitrate films, digital files are vulnerable. For instance, data files can be corrupted and the download can fail as a result. The result can generate its own beauty. In his short film Lyrical Data, Elias Heuninck uses an incomplete download of Peter Delpeut’s found-footage film Lyrical Nitrate (1991) for a reflection on the power of images.
