Let's Finish!!!   SD-2008

By the director of the oppressive Spying Cam (IFFR 2003). A young woman and two men meet each other via a website for people with suicide plans. With the intention of spending all their money and then ending it all, they set off. But ideals get watered down on the way.

The phenomenon of suicide clubs on the Internet, where aspiring self-killers can meet people of like mind, forms the starting point for this charged road movie. When the three protagonists of Let’s Finish!!! meet each other in a park, it soon becomes apparent that they think they all share the same final aim. They pool some money and set off in a car, with the aim of killing themselves when the money has gone. But it becomes apparent that, just because all three of them are thinking of suicide, they are not necessarily ideal travelling partners, let alone suitable to die with. The chatterbox LA has brought his dog along and is infuriated by the funeral music of the beautiful Joaquin. The husky macho Heballet has soon had enough of all the chattering and sets off, taking the car with him, leaving the other two to their fate. The three rebellious kids may have left with a clear aim, the end of their journey seems to change on the way when encounters, conflict and the experience of the journey itself ensure some unexpected turns. This also makes Let’s Finish!!! an allegory about the relationships between men and women and the ideologically unstable sense of direction of today's left in Korea, a subject about which Whang, the maker of Spying Cam (Fipresci Award Rotterdam 2003) knows more about than anyone else.
