Midi Z (1982, Burma) studied Film Direction in Taiwan and graduated with his first short film Paloma Blanca in 2006. In 2009, he was selected as one of the most prominent directors by the Taipei Golden Horse Film Academy. Return to Burma, his debut feature, was selected for Rotterdam's Tiger Award Competition in 2012. Poor Folk is his second feature film.
