The Hivos Tiger Awards Competition intends to give up-and-coming talent the opportunity to shine on a global stage instead of those that have already made a name for themselves.

The prestigious Hivos Tiger Awards Competition is the International Film Festival Rotterdam's centrepiece. Hivos Tiger Award winners not only receive trophies and €15.000 each, but they also gain international recognition. Just the fact that a production has been selected for the competition in Rotterdam guarantees the necessary international attention.

Among sixteen nominees are five Hubert Bals Fund-supported films and three realised CineMart projects. The three winners of the Hivos Tiger Awards 2013 were be chosen by a jury of five, among them celebrated filmmaker Ai Weiwei.
