Mon, Tue Wed, Jan 26/27/28: Bruce McClure 16mm live cinema workshop
RIDDLE OF THE BEAST

Bruce McClure is een regelmatige gast van het Filmfestival Rotterdam. Ook
dit jaar heeft hij een live “projection” performance op het festival in
het Size Matters programma. In samenwerking met het IFFR zal Bruce een  3-daagse hands-on Live Cinema / Optical Sound workshop bij WORM verzorgen:  Riddle of the Beast At the circus, in the safety of our seats, we watch the elephant’s bulk  coaxed into intemperate feats. As the lights come up we realize that we
never left the velveteen plush of the movie house. The workshops will
reach deeply into the substance of the friendly pachyderm to discover at  least two electrical conductors that are the source of our affection for  this beast. Products of the 19th century, incandescent light and its  offspring, the movie projector, were given a voice in the 1920’s by  optical sound. These revolutionary technologies may be languishing on the threshold of extinction but will be celebrated and preserved as echoes and
afterimages of the machine age resonating in the vitality of 21st century
consciousness.

WORM is a Rotterdam based artists collective, a venue and workspace for music,  film and new media. Born under the stars of punk, dada, fluxus, situationism and futurism, WORM has grown to a tenacious organisation that combines the 'Do-It-Yourself' mentality of it's ancestors with ultra-pragmatism and good bookkeeping. The output of WORM is film, radio, concerts, performances, web-projects, installations, an array of tactile media and a 24/7 webstation. WORM focusses on OpenSource, re-cycled material, Superuse, seriousness and  fun.
